The latest fuel price hike on 24th July 2022, has increased the kerosene oil price from Rs. 87 to Rs. 297. Kerosene oil is mainly used by poorest people, farmers, fishermen and gem miners. This sudden increase to please IMF is intolerable to the already heavily suffering poor people. They will be very frustrated. Leftist political parties may take this as an advantage to agitate people by organizing island wide violent protests.
